The project is being run at the Durban Botanic Gardens in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Other collaborative partners include the National Biodiversity Institute, the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Durban) and KZN Wildlife.

Scientists and horticulturists from each of these organisations came together in 2001 to compile the goals and objectives which now serve to govern the activities of the project.
