Madhupa Mukherjee started her PhD at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Durban) in 2004, and is investigating the molecular variation in Stangeria eriopus populations. Currently she's experiencing difficulty in sequencing the DNA by means of PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), and will later be using AFLP (Amplified fragment-length polymorphism), which she hopes will give better results.
